'Typeknitting: Pixel, Patch und Pattern' Book presentation and signing with Rüdiger Schlömer
"Typeknitting: Pixel, Patch und Pattern" is a methodical plugin for typographic knitting. It explores different techniques, from classic, loop-based intarsia to modular patchwork knitting and shows you different ways how cutting-edge fonts can be applied on hats, scarves, and sweaters. This includes typefaces from foundries like Bold Monday, Emigre, and Typotheque. The book turns to a broad audience interested in the crafts of type and knitting: knitters who want to incorporate letters and typography, as well as typographers who want to explore knitting as a form of textile communication.
In this book presentation, Rüdiger Schlömer will talk about the content and realization of his book, as well as the idea of analog programming and digital craftsmanship. It will also be the dutch book launch of the english translation, "Typographic Knitting" (from 22. October at Princeton Architectural Press).
Rüdiger Schlömer (Zürich) works as a graphic designer in the fields of book design, exhibition graphics and signage. He studied visual communication in Aachen and Art in Context in Berlin.
